It was the same media outlet who claimed the Magpies' interest at the end of last year, and it appears as if the 25-year-old right-winger will be leaving the Ligue 1 side at the end of this season.
The high-profile interest in him is sure to push up the price Evian request for his services, and it would come as no surprise to see him turning out in the Premier League next season.
Admittedly, the watching parties will not have been overly impressed with what Wass displayed for Denmark in the ongoing international break.
Wass put in a solid display as a right-back in the 3-2 victory over the USA - although his defensive ability was brought into question - but he only played one half of action in the 2-0 defeat to France, although he was returned to his natural wide midfield position.
This is a far cry from his form at club level, with Wass the star man in Evian’s Ligue 1 campaign. The Dane has 10 goals in 29 games in all competitions as the club fight off relegation from the top flight, and he has certainly shown enough to suggest that the Premier League would not be a step too far if and when a transfer occurs this summer.
