Report: Arsenal planning summer transfer for Loic Perrin

Arsenal attempted to sign Loic Perrin in January, and they are planning on moving for him in the summer.

Le10 Sport have run a story claiming that the Gunners are preparing to go back in for St Etienne centre-back Loic Perrin in the summer, having failed to sign him in the January transfer window.

A 29-year-old centre-half, Perrin has spent his entire career at St Etienne, making 290 appearances since his debut in 2003, and has recently worked his way into Dider Deschamps’ national squads - although he is yet to play for Les Bleus.

During January, Perrin revealed to Canal+ that he had been in contact with Arsenal prior to the turn of the year, whilst he told But! Football Club via Goal a few weeks later that he seriously considered the transfer, as he wants to play in the Champions League.

With ASSE still in the running for European qualification, there may be a chance that Perrin will get to play in the Champions League with his boyhood club next season.

However, if the former French giants miss out on a spot in Europe’s premier competition, that could open the door for a potential transfer to North London, with the Gunners all-but guaranteed a top four place.

St Etienne are seemingly already preparing for life without Perrin, as they are attempting to make a move for Monaco’s on-loan defender Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, who is currently on loan at PSV Eindhoven.
