The Northern Echo has reported that Newcastle United midfielder Rolando Aarons should be fit for the derby game against Sunderland this weekend.
The Newcastle United youngster has been out of action with a hamstring problem, but the paper states that he’s made good progress on the injury and the club expect him to at least make the bench for the game this weekend.
The news will come as a welcome boost to manager John Carver because of the injury problems he’s had to deal with in all areas of his squad over the last few weeks.
It will be interesting to see if Carver holds him back if his progress continues to be positive over the course of the week.
The temptation for the boss could be to start him, but there is always going to be the risk of making the injury reoccur if he’s thrown back into the side before he’s completely ready.
Aarons should be determined to have a positive impact in the first team over the rest of the season, with the Magpies aiming for at least the top ten.
