The forward is reportedly rated at £30 million, which would be a big commitment for the club to make following the £28 million deal for Wilfried Bony from Swansea.
However, Arsenal and Chelsea are also mentioned as reportedly interested parties in signing him.
The Mail also reports that City are apparently keeping a close eye on signing Roberto Soriano of Sampdoria.
City have reportedly sent scouts to watch him playing in recent games, as they mull over whether to make a bid.
He initially rose up through the ranks as a talented youngster at German giants Bayern Munich.
Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has been quoted by Goal hinting at retirement from international football.
Toure was a successful member of the Ivory Coast squad which won the African Cup of Nations earlier this year.
He has suggested that his targets in the international game have now all been achieved and will make a decision imminently over whether he’ll play on for his country.
“I think now my target is done. I want to wait a couple of days for what I will decide for my future,” he said.
