One thing Liverpool's side looks as though it lacks is experienced characters - they should hope this one stays put.
The next few weeks, we may see one of the Premier League's cult heroes at the heart of the Liverpool defence.
With Martin Skrtel banned for three games for stamping on David De Gea towards the end of Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.
Liverpool are losing the most experienced part of their back three that has worked so well during the second half of the season, therefore it is likely Toure will come in to fill the void left by the Slovakian.
Earlier on in the season, Toure revealed he was offered a new contract by the club but was thinking things over - whether he wanted to play regularly or was satisfied being an alternative or cover option at the back for the Reds.
But is clear that Toure has a positive effect on the dressing room. One only needs to have a look at the images of Liverpool training sessions when Toure is involved as his positive character seems to liven up things at Melwood, while even though he could be irreverent at times on the field, he is a pretty composed figure that knows the game well enough to have a few Premier League and FA Cup winners' medals as part of his collection.
The current Liverpool side seems pretty devoid of experience and characters within the side - or at least someone that possesses both, so Toure's contribution off the field could be vital. It'd be good news for Liverpool if they kept hold of him.
