Kevin Phillips has told the Premier League's official site that it is impossible to teach the skill that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane possesses.
Kane has scored 29 goals for Spurs this campaign and Phillips believes that his goalscoring instinct is something which is innate.
Phillips, who himself was one of the most deadly finishers the Premier League has seen, believes that Kane has all the potential to go to the top of the game and he has hailed his ability.
“You can’t teach what Harry’s got,” Phillips said. “That instinct is something you’re born with. You can teach people the right runs, but what you can’t anticipate is where that ball is going to drop.
“It’s about being in the right place at the right time and you saw with his hat-trick against Leicester City, he showed another thing you can’t teach — when he’s presented with an opportunity, he doesn’t panic. He has remarkable composure and that’s a great credit to him, especially being so young.”
Kane has had a quite remarkable breakthrough year and he has gone from hot propsect to England's great striking hope in less than 12 months.
That is testament to his ability and his attitude, and the hope is that Kane can go on to be a major star for club and country.
Although the youngster still needs to prove that he isn't a one-hit wonder, Phillips seemingly has no doubt that his showings this season are just the start of his success.
The Leicester City coach is better placed to judge than most, given his goalscoring background, and Spurs fans will be encouraged to hear their main man getting even more praise from a striker who has such a proven record for scoring goals.
