Long term injury absentees Gavin Gunning and Matt Green both have a chance to impress manager Gary Rowett again on Tuesday as the Birmingham City Development Squad travel to Crystal Palace.
Both completed just over an hour in the Blues' last reserve game at home to Ipswich and will be looking to step up their match fitness as they hope to challenge for first team places in a busy April programme of action.
With Will Packwood out on loan and Jonathan Spector having picked up a knock in Blues' last game against Cardiff, Gunning will be well aware that he could be close to the bench for the next league fixture against Rotherham United on Good Friday, and with a packed programme of eight games in 29 days there is every chance he could be called into action.
Matt Green faces a harder task pushing into the first 11 with Rowett having a surplus of fit strikers to choose from and normally happy to play a formation with only one up top.
However, Green will also be aware that Rowett likes to have variation on the bench and that if he can show he can offer a different attacking option he could replace Nikola Zigic or Lee Novak in the matchday 18.
Although Birmingham City have very little to play, for manager Rowett has called upon the team to improve on recent performances and to work hard to finish as high in the table as possible.
