Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to social networking site Twitter to revel in Portugal’s victory over Serbia on Sunday evening.
Portugal maintained their chances of qualifying for the 2016 European Championship with a narrow 2-1 win against Radovan Curcic’s side at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.
Former Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho put the Seleccao in the lead as early as the 10th minute, but Nemanja Matic restored parity for Serbia just past the hour mark.
However, Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao scored what proved to be the winning goal for the Euro 2004 finalists soon after.
Portugal and Madrid forward Ronaldo was delighted with the win and took to Twitter to express his happiness.
The win means that Portugal are now at the top of the Euro 2016 qualifying Group I with nine points from four matches, two points clear of Denmark and Albania, who are second and third respectively.
