A wake up call for Leeds United loanee Adryan

Alex Mowatt and Lewis Cook's international call-ups should be a wake up call to Leeds United teammate Adryan.

Leeds United young stars Lewis Cook and Alex Mowatt received recognition for their superb seasons for the club with international call-ups.

Cook made an appearance for England's under-19 side at the weekend while Mowatt was also a starter for the under-20s.

One player who has represented his country at that level and is still eligible to is club teammate Adryan, but instead he has been spending his weekend at home in Leeds.

A lack of involvement during this international break should be a wake up call for the youngster, emphasised by Cook and Mowatt being recognised for their development.

Adryan is of course a player with a track record at international youth level for Brazil. He forged his reputation while plaing for their under-17 side, exciting fans by scoring eight goals in 13 games.

This saw him labelled the next Zico, as referenced by BBC South American football expert Tim Vickery in an interview with Talksport last year.

He would go on to play three times for Brazil's under-20 side, but has fallen off their radar as of late.

At the end of last year the signs were promising. Adryan had broken into the Leeds team and began to make headlines in his homeland, telling website Esporte Interativo of his enjoyment at life at the club.

Currently on loan from Flamengo there remains intrigue as to his talent, but since December the only news he has made in Brazil has been as a result of his ridiculous dive against Derby County.

He is unable to get into the Leeds side at present, and seeing the young players who are in there, Cook and Mowatt getting called up to their national youth teams should act to jolt him into action.

Whether this manifests itself in terms of kicking on for Leeds, or making a decision to rescue his career away from the club when his loan expires, Adryan would do well to use this as motivation.
