The Bayern Munich keeper' has praised his former captain and teammate ahead of Sunday's charity game at Anfield.
The goalkeeper was speaking to the newspaper ahead of tomorrow’s charity match at Anfield, in which a side led by Steven Gerrard will take on former defender turned pundit Jamie Carragher’s team.
Midfielder Gerrard is set to end a 25-year-association with the club when he moves to the MLS to join La Galaxy, and Reina is the latest in a long line of players to pay testament to the former England captain.
“It will be great to share a pitch again with Stevie,” said Reina.
“I’ve been lucky enough to play with some great players during my career and, believe me, he is right up there.”
The game will feature a whole host of former Liverpool stars, with the likes of Xabi Alonso, Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres and Luis Garcia all set to feature in the fixture.
They will be joined by a number of current stars for both Liverpool and other clubs for the charity match, with Chelsea forward Didier Drogba a notable name amongst the selected teams.
As far as Reina is concerned, the number of players who are taking part at Anfield is a clear testament of how well respected Gerrard is in world football.
“You only have to look at the number of top players who are coming to take part in the game to see how much everybody respects him,” he added.
“It’s not just in Liverpool. It’s all over the world. They all know what he is and what he is about, and they know how much his home city means to him.”
