Could Arsenal be about to sign yet another centre-back to partner the one they bought in January?
The Gunners may have only recently signed a new centre-back in the form of Gabriel Paulista but that has not stopped the Telegraph claiming Dragovic remains a target for Arsene Wenger, with the Frenchman reportedly intent on strengthening his defence further this summer.
Dragovic currently plays for Dynamo Kiev, where he has played 64 matches to date, but the 24-year-old has since been speaking about the links with both Arsenal and their Premier League rivals Manchester United.
When asked if he thought about the possibility of moving to a top league, with rumours of such a thing now regularly doing the rounds, the alleged Arsenal target said, “I would be lying if I said these things were not buzzing round in the back of my head. But as long as no concrete offer is on the table, I do not need to deal with it in any more detail.”
The interviewer then joked as to whether the Austrian had paid any attention to the defenders currently at Arsenal and United.
“Not yet, but I might in the future,” he replied.
Dragovic is highly-rated and it would be interesting to see if he could forge an effective centre-back pairing with Gabriel were he to arrive in North London.
Currently Laurent Koscielny is seen as the other first-choice centre-back, with Per Mertesacker spending more time on the bench since the Brazilian’s arrival. But Wenger will know the importance of strength in depth, so could Dragovic be his man?
