Sunderland will resume their 2014-15 Premier League campaign after the international break when they take on Newcastle United at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats will head into the Tyne-Wear derby placed 17th in the league table with 26 points from 30 matches, just a point above the relegation zone.
Newcastle are also struggling for points and for form at the moment, and currently find themselves 12th in the standings with 35 points from 30 games.
Sunderland and Newcastle faced each other in the Premier League on Sunday, December 21.
On that occasion, the Magpies were the home team, but the Black Cats still won the encounter at St. James’ Park 1-0.
Adam Johnson’s goal in the 90th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides, as Sunderland extended their unbeaten run to six matches against Newcastle.
Sunderland had 48% of the possession, 16 shots of which only three were on target, and just one corner.
Meanwhile, Newcastle had 52% of the possession, 15 shots of which seven were on target, and seven corners.
