Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard and the Reds’ former defender Jamie Carragher go head-to-head this afternoon in a charity match featuring some of the best players to have donned the shirt in recent years.
Among those in action are Pepe Reina, Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez and Harry Kewell and it should be an interesting encounter for a whole host of reasons.
Not least among them will be the clash between Chelsea pair Didier Drogba and John Terry, who are turning out on opposite sides.
The match allows Liverpool fans to take a somewhat different look at some of the players they love to hate, not least Chelsea skipper Terry.
Expect the boos to be plentiful but playful, provided he goes easy on the current Liverpool first-team players involved this afternoon.
Liverpool’s next competitive match is a vital Premier League encounter against Arsenal, when their Champions League dream could be ended for another season or live on with a famous victory.
But that is for another day; this weekend it is all about charity and playful banter between two of Liverpool’s greatest ever players in the form of Gerrard and Carragher.
