Arsenal’s Wilshere and Cazorla considered by Barcelona - Spanish press

Cazorla Corner

The Catalan giants will need to replace their emblematic midfielder in the near future, with the Gunners duo in contention.

Arsenal pair Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere are on Barcelona’s shortlist to replace iconic midfielder Xavi, Sport has revealed.

The Catalan giants are expecting the former Spain international to leave Camp Nou this summer, with reports emerging this week that the veteran could be heading to the Middle East.

The Blaugrana are believed to be putting together a shortlist of potential new arrivals that could replace Xavi at the club, with Atletico Madrid’s Koke a firm favourite.

However, the report instigates that Luis Enrique’s men will also be considering other options, such as Marco Verratti and Paul Pogba.

Wilshere and Cazorla are also listed as potential options, but it remains to be seen just how much credence is in the claims.

Wilshere’s long-standing injury concerns have reared their ugly head again this term, with the England international spending prolonged periods on the treatment table. As such, if Barcelona were interested in him it would surely be something of a shock.

Cazorla continues to impress for Arsene Wenger’s men with his range of passing and number of assists, and looks the more likely of the two to potentially head to Camp Nou.

The fact that he is Spanish and also has been operating in a deeper role for the Gunners this season on occasion suggest that the former Malaga schemer could be an option for the Catalans.
