Arsenal are preparing an offer for Penarol teenager Federico Valverde, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
The Italian website exclusively claims the Gunners are ready to make an offer worth €2.5 million, plus bonuses linked to his development.
The Metro reported earlier this year how Arsenal had brought Valverde over for a trial, and taken out an expensive insurance policy for the privilege in case he got injured.]
Valverde would join the club's academy, for he is just 16, and is a Uruguayan under-17 international. He is an attacking midfielder, but Arsenal may not have it their own way in their efforts to sign him.
Penarol released a statement in January, as Valverde left for his trial, reported by Uruguayan newspaper El Observador, that they had no intention of selling the talented teenager, yet said Arsenal were so insistent they agreed to a one week release.
With a potential cash offer on the table, Arsenal seemingly hold an interest in pursuing their interest and insisting Valverde joins permanently this summer, and Penarol's resistence may yet be broken.
Uruguayan website PadreyDecano describe him as a physical, yet talented player with great vision and an impressive right foot.
