Liverpool's Brazilian play-maker has no intention of settling for anything but his very best.
Liverpool play-maker Philippe Coutinho has been speaking to the club’s official television channel in an exclusive documentary called Home From Home.
One in particular should excite Liverpool supporters, with the 22-year-old admitting that he is unlikely to stop striving to improve for one very simple reason.
“There are many things to improve, so I’ll never be in my comfort zone,” Coutinho said.
That simple statement should not be underestimated, because too many footballers reach a certain level and then allow their performance levels to tail off or stagnate.
Coutinho clearly has no intention of doing that, despite reaching a level where he is now a regular threat both in terms of creating and scoring himself.
Liverpool’s play-maker has made a habit of scoring wonderful goals since the turn of the year and he now has five goals and five assists this season.
But the very fact that he will never be in his comfort zone can only be a good thing both for Liverpool and their supporters.
Lazy players only do so much, but it is clear Liverpool are in possession of a young star who constantly seeks to improve, playing in the moment rather than the comfort zone.
