The Germany international has stated that Arsene Wenger’s men will not be satisfied if they don’t win a trophy this term.
With the Gunners’ top-four hopes hanging in the balance two months ago, the North London club will now have one eye on Manchester City and Chelsea in the positions above them.
Despite a disappointing Champions League elimination to Monaco, Arsenal are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and have an excellent chance of retaining the trophy that they won last year.
Mesut Ozil has revealed the club’s ambitions for the rest of the season and stated that the players will not be happy unless they win silverware in 2014-15.
“The most important thing is that we win games as a team,” the Germany international told Arsenal Player.
“Of course it’s nice if I can give an assist or score a goal, but really, what’s most important is that we are successful as a team.
“We’re rightfully near the top of the table and in the semi-finals of the FA Cup again. I think we can win trophies again this year, and if we do that, we will be satisfied.”
Ozil has chipped in with three goals and five assists this season but has struggled with debilitating injuries for prolonged periods.
The Gunners are a point ahead of Manchester United, a point below Manchester City and six adrift of Chelsea having played a game more.
Wenger’s charges also face Reading in the FA Cup semi-finals, with the victors set to take on Liverpool, Blackburn or Aston Villa in the final should they beat the Royals.
