Liverpool round-up: Kovacic reportedly desperate for Reds move; Torres excited to return

Welcome To Anfield

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

According to a report from the Daily Star, Inter Milan’s attacking midfielder Mateo Kovacic favours a move to Liverpool ahead of Arsenal or Manchester United.

The 20-year-old has reportedly impressed scouts of the Reds in recent times and it is now being suggested the player himself is desperate to sign for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Kovacic has played 34 games for Inter this season, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in that time.

In other news, former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has been speaking to the club’s official website about his impending return to Anfield for a charity match.

The Spanish international takes part in an All-Star game on Sunday and he cannot wait to be reunited with one player in particular – Steven Gerrard.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting some of my old teammates, especially Stevie,” Torres said.

“I’m sure it’s going to be a great day and night for him.”

This will be the first time Gerrard takes to the field since his red card for Liverpool against Manchester United last weekend. But this match is sure to have a very different atmosphere and feeling among the players involved.
