In an interview with MARCA, Juan Bernat heaped praised on David Alaba, who is said to be wanted by both Barcelona and Real Madrid, with the reigning Champions League winners in pole position, according to Marca.
Alaba has been considered one of the top young talents in world football due to his pace, power and ability to play all positions along the backline, something Pep Guardiola has utilised on several occasions.
Bernat, who made the move from Valencia to the Allianz Arena last summer, was surprised by Alaba's versatility but isn't surprised that the 22-year-old is on the radar of some of the top clubs in Europe.
He said: "He's an animal.
"I was very surprised. He can play as a full-back, centre-back, pivot...He's very powerful, a top player that could play for any team. And, he's a set-piece specialist. Even more so, he's technically very good and that's why he's at Bayern, which stands out more than his physical prowess.
"My friend told me some time ago that Real Madrid were interested in Alaba. I'm not one to make decisions for Bayern, but if I was, I have no doubt that he's a priority for this club. He's a player that offers solutions, has many different positions, and that's not easy to find."
Alaba joined Bayern Munich's youth squad from Austria Wien in 2008 and has since gone on to become a vital cog in Pep Guardiola's German machine following a loan spell at 1899 Hoffenheim in 2011.
Following the rumours of interest from Real Madrid this past week, Alaba's father George has publicly come out and denied the reports, stating to Kicker that his son has no intention of leaving of Bayern Munich.
