Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla praises Spain goalscorer Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata

The Gunners playmaker has stated that the Juventus forward is the future for La Roja.

Arsenal were said to be in the market for a new striker last summer, with the North London club heavily linked with a move for Alvaro Morata - by the Daily Mail, among others.

The Spain international ended up leaving Real Madrid to join Juventus, and starred in the place of Diego Costa for his country last night.

The in-form attacker netted the only goal of the game to give Vicente del Bosque’s men a slender 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying victory over Ukraine in Seville.

Santi Cazorla was full of praise for Morata in the aftermath of the game and stated that the powerful attacker has a bright future at both club and international level.

“He’s the future of the Spain side; he’s doing well with Juve and we’ve all congratulated him for his goal,” AS quote the Gunners star as saying.

Olivier Giroud’s recent scintillating form may well have changed the opinions of an Arsenal fan base that had previously been crying out for a new centre forward to lead their line.

Morata has starred in recent months for Juventus and has overtaken Fernando Llorente to become first choice for the Italian champions.

The 22-year-old has netted seven Serie A goals for the Bianconeri this season and also put in a number of excellent performances in the Champions League.
