Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil gives his verdict on personal form

The Germany international has stated that he is happy with how he has played after returning from injury this term.

Arsenal club transfer record holder Mesut Ozil has come in for criticism for inconsistent performances for the Gunners since signing from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.

The Germany international started life in England in fine form but has since suffered from debilitating injuries and split opinion amongst the Emirates Stadium faithful.

Ozil has been asked to play in a number of positions for Arsenal and has been deployed wide on the left on occasion instead of his preferred number ten role.

The diminutive schemer has taken time to get used to the defensive responsibilities and more physical nature of the Premier League also.

Despite this, Ozil has spoken out about his personal form this season and admitted that he is “very satisfied” with how he has been playing in 2014-15.

“I think it’s been very positive [this season],” Ozil told Arsenal Player.

“Of course picking up my injury was a negative because I missed a lot of games. But if you look at the league and my performances, I’m really satisfied.

“I’d say I’m on the right way. What’s most important is that I perform well consistently. The team support me really well and the manager gives me his trust.

“I’ve missed a lot of football and I think it shows on the pitch that I worked very hard during that time. So now I just want to... help the team and I’m on the right path.”

The 26-year-old has started 13 games this season, scoring three goals and creating five assists.

Ozil has played a part in Arsenal’s positive recent form, with Arsene Wenger’s men propelling themselves into third place and looking odds-on to qualify for next season’s Champions League once again.
