Tony Gale has told Sky Sports' official site that he didn't think Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane had a good game against Leicester City last weekend, despite netting a hat-trick.
Tottenham beat Leicester 4-3 with Kane scoring the bulk of their goals, but Gale still felt the striker was short of his best.
The Sky Sports pundit said that he wasn't particularly impressed by the 21-year-old's performance, but that should be taken as a good sign as he still managed to have such an impact despite being off form.
"The most important thing is not when it's going well, it's how you handle it when it's going the other way," he said.
"I was at Leicester last week and Harry didn't have a particularly good game in my eyes but all of a sudden he had a hat-trick! Things follow you about. When it starts to go wrong, it's how you handle it."
Gale's analysis may be slightly harsh on Kane, as he was fairly impressive against Leicester and performed his role to perfection.
Although the striker has the ability to drop deep, it is his predatory instincts which have stood out this season and they were on full display last Saturday.
It was the sort of performance that Kane has been putting in on a regular basis, and he has already scored a total of 29 goals this season.
It is a hugely impressive record during what has been a whirlwind breakthrough year for Kane and he will be looking to take his tally to beyond 30 goals when he returns from England duty later next week.
