Fellaini has included a surprise defender alongside some world-class stars.

Marouane Fellaini has announced his ultimate five-a-side team to the Daily Mail.

Just one of his current Manchester United teammates makes the cut, whilst the Belgian international has opted to include a former Everton teammate ahead of any of his international compatriots.

Three players he has never played with also feature, including one Red Devils legend, and one retired French superstar.

In goal, Fellaini has opted for David de Gea over international teammate Thibaut Courtois, a selection that is certainly warranted on this season’s form.

It is his selection in defence that is most surprising, as the midfielder has chosen to include Everton veteran Sylvain Distin over a number of his own defensive contemporaries.

In front of the 37-year-old centre-back, the United man has opted for an attacking trio that would bring fear to the minds of every opponent they faced.

Zinedine Zidane has been selected alongside Lionel Messi, whilst Cristiano Ronaldo would lead the line, bringing a wealth of goals to the team. That is three Ballon d’Or winners selected to offer an attacking threat, and it is a trio of the finest players in footballing history.

His defensive selection may raise a few eyebrows, but there is no complaining with Fellaini’s picks for the positions in his very attacking five-a-side team.
