Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Daniel Sturridge's latest injury

Liverpool will be without key striker Daniel Sturridge for at least one month.

The Daily Mail has reported that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is set to be out of action for around one month after a latest injury setback.

The paper reports that England officials sent the striker for a scan on an injury he suffered last weekend in the game against Manchester United, which revealed a thigh tear.

It’s not a case of the international break striking again because the player already had the problem, but it’s another blow considering the setback he had earlier in the season when he did pick up a problem while training with England.

The person most affected in the situation is Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers who is left without one of his main players, with his team hunting the top four in the Premier League and looking to chase down a gap to secure a place in Europe.

Sturridge had that burst of pace, which makes a big difference in any attack, but Raheem Sterling has played at the top of the attack, which allows the manager to continue using the current system, which has been so effective in the majority of games.

Sturridge could still return by the end of the campaign to create that final push before the end of the league season, but the delay in his return from a previous thigh problem shows how difficult it is for Rodgers to judge the right time for him to come back into the team.

Liverpool could be within touching distance of a position in the top four in one month and Rodgers can’t turn to Sturridge prematurely, although he is one player who can turn any number of big games for the club which could be the difference in terms of a top four finish.

Here’s what Liverpool fans on Twitter have has to say about the news.
