The Brazil international has scored 15 goals in 24 matches this season.
Talksport reports that the 27-year-old, Shakhtar's all-time leading goalscorer, has previously been linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool, and will be sure to be kept in mind after comments implying his openness for a new challenge.
“My plan is to respect the contract, which has not been renewed and will expire in December 2015," Adriano said.
"I am in a good moment of my career and we'll do what will be best for me and for the club. With my contract set to expire and many good performances, it'll be difficult to stay in Ukraine."
Adriano is currently this season's Champions League top scorer, with an impressive nine goals in seven games, including a record-equalling five-goal haul against Bate Borisov in October.
The Brazilian has regularly starred at Shakhtar since arriving as a 20 year old in 2007, where he has won six league titles, and was last season's top goalscorer in Ukraine.
But it looks like the striker is in his final year at the club, after he confirmed that there has been no renewal on his current deal which expires in December.
It could make him one of the most sought-after players in Europe, with attacking stars at the peak of their careers rarely becoming available for free.
Adriano has also broken into the Brazil squad in the last year, winning his third cap in the 3-1 win over France in Paris on Thursday night.
