Twitter welcomed a new footballer to the family yesterday, as West Ham's on loan Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson joined.
The right-back, who has been in great form this season, is currently in the midst of a season long loan deal at Upton Park from The Emirates.
So when he did finally join he expected and got some love from an Arsenal player. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Tweeted a shout-out for his team-mate on the social networking site, highlighting the fact his pal was now online.
Here he is!! Finally @carljenkinson has arrived! Follow him people....— Alex Ox-Chamberlain (@Alex_OxChambo) March 26, 2015
Seemed fair enough.
But it did not go down well with Jenko. He seemed to be livid, with his tongue firmly in cheek, at the message suggesting The Ox might have been able to put a little bit more effort into the post.
He Tweeted in response:
.@Alex_OxChambo 4 years of friendship and I get a lacklustre introduction like that... What is that?! Absolutely pathetic.— Carl Jenkinson (@carljenkinson) March 27, 2015
.@Alex_OxChambo Anyone would think I've just text you asking for a shout out— Carl Jenkinson (@carljenkinson) March 27, 2015
Of course it was all in good jest. The two were well known for being great pals, and Ozlade-Chamberlain clearly found it amusing:
Time will now tell what happens with the future of Jenkinson. He faces a battle for first-team football at Arsenal so a return is not assured.
'Carlambian' may be no more, but we are sure they will still get involved in the banter on Twitter.
