In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Alves' agent Dinorah Santana confirmed negotiations with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain as the 31-year-old prepares for a summer exit from his club of eight years.
Santana has spent weeks publicly calling out Barcelona for not making any indication of their intention to negotiate, let alone sign, Alves to an extension, and stressed that with negotiations beginning with PSG, Barcelona's ship has sailed.
However, until his contract expires on 31 June, he is still under contract with Barcelona and still has a job to do this season.
Alves returned to training on Thursday morning, ready to begin preparations for the final third of the season, which could still see the Blaugrana win the treble, providing what looks to be a fitting end for such an important part of Barcelona's recent history.
In addition to Alves, Thomas Vermaelen, who as been sidelined since signing off on his €15 million move from Arsenal this past summer, completed his second training session in as many days as he looks to finally make his Barcelona debut against Celta Vigo following the international break.
