Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Morgan Schneiderlin's performance against Brazil

Arsenal v Southampton 2012 Pregame with Schneiderlin

The Southampton midfielder was in the France line-up for the Selecao's visit and, amid reports linking him with a move to the Emirates, Gunners fans were keen to see how he fared.

Arsenal fans were keeping a close eye on Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin in Thursday night’s friendly between France and Brazil, as the 25-year-old continues to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman’s future has been the subject of much speculation since he was reported to have handed in a transfer request in the summer and put Arsenal on further alert this week during an interview with L’Equipe when he reiterated his desire to experience Champions League football.

“In August, I wanted to take a move but the club had lost too many players to agree to sell me,” he told the French sports newspaper.

"Since then I have had discussions with the leaders and I want to play at the highest level. It is important at 25 years old to finally know the Champions League.

"Given that, late in the season, Southampton may qualify for the Champions League and I can stay, who knows? I have no desire to be in front of my TV on Tuesday and Wednesday."

The seven-time capped Saint was in the starting line-up as Brazil visited the Stade de France and, with the likes of the Daily Mail reporting that Arsene Wenger is preparing a £25 million bid for the summer, there was extra pressure on him to deliver a performance fitting of his price tag.

He couldn’t prevent Didier Deschamps’ side falling to a 3-1 defeat, however, as Oscar’s first-half strike cancelled out Raphael Varane’s 21st-minute opener, before Neymar and Luis Gustavo struck after the break to hand the Selecao their seventh successive win.

As he went the full 90 minutes on the night, here’s how Arsenal’s Twitter-based supporters reacted to his performance.
