30-year-old Newcastle star sends out straight talking message to his teammates

Newcastle United and Sunderland face each other next weekend in the Premier League.

Ryan Taylor has told the Sunderland Echo that his Newcastle United teammates should not be at St. James' Park if they are not motivated to beat Sunderland.

Newcastle take on Sunderland this weekend and Taylor suggests that the Magpies' team should be fired up to take the three points off their near neighbours.

The Black Cats beat the Tynesiders earlier this season and Taylor is looking for revenge during this fixture.

“If you don’t want go to Sunderland and play, you shouldn’t be here," he said.

Newcastle's players' attitude has been questioned at stages throughout the season, as they have appeared too easy to beat.

Heavy away defeats to Manchester City and Everton, where Newcastle's players have appeared to switch off, have been particularly revealing and the squad owe their fans a big performance against Sunderland.

Beating the Black Cats will not be easy though, despite their league position, as Dick Advocaat's side are sure to be highly motivated to get the three points themselves.

Sunderland are in need of victories to avoid the drop, as they are only one point above the relegation zone, and a victory over Newcastle could be a huge bonus for the side.
