Should Tottenham boss look to include forgotten 24-year-old loanee next season?

Does Lewis Holtby have a future with Tottenham Hotspur?

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino will face a tough decision this summer when Hamburg loan star Lewis Holtby returns to White Hart Lane.

The 24-year-old, who has just returned to the Hamburg first-team following a collarbone fracture, has been impressive in the Bundesliga this season despite his loan side’s disappointing position in the table.

Holtby has started in 16 games for the North German side and, while he has only registered one assist, he has won the plaudits of some supporters who have praised his all round game during their relegation battle with the likes of Stuttgart, Freiburg and Hannover.

With his loan due to end in the summer, a return to Spurs seems likely, but whether he will get a chance under Mauricio Pochettino or be moved on remains to be seen.

Why should Tottenham keep Holtby?

Holtby is a player with a lot of promise that seems to be still refining his game despite his age.

Under Pochettino this season, a number of Spurs players who had previously been written off by some fans have flourished into regular first-team players.

If Holtby can be given the same opportunity, with the same coaching, it stands to reason that he could once again find the form that had him dubbed as one of the most exciting German talents in years.

If the former Southampton manager can achieve that, he will have a player with exceptional ability ready to prove a point in the Premier League next season.
