Kane has had a brilliant breakthrough season at White Hart Lane, where he has scored 29 goals, and Shearer has been hugely impressed by the in-form frontman.
Shearer says that Kane has all the attributes of a deadly striker and believes the 21-year-old has the potential to make it to the very top.
"I am a huge fan of his and what I love about him is that he scores all types of goals and does not care about the reputations of whoever is marking him," Shearer said.
"He has got a great touch, heading ability, can mix it physically and his finishing is top class. There is a bit of everything to his game and he is happy to run in behind defenders or come short looking for the ball.
"He is still raw but, if you put all of that together, then it suggests he can be very, very good."
Kane is becoming used to receiving praise like this and Shearer has been added to a long list of admirers of the Spurs academy graduate.
It, therefore, is quite remarkable how grounded Kane appears. It would have been easy for such an inexperienced star to get carried away, but the clinical centre-forward seems to be very focused on improving, rather than becoming caught up in his hype.
Kane's fine form has earned him international recognition and he is in the senior England squad for the first time for their upcoming games against Lithuania and Italy.
It is unknown whether Kane will start either of the matches, but if he does it will cap off his rapid rise to the top of the game and the striker will be hoping to prove he can cope with this challenge to further increase his burgeoning reputation.
