Report: Tottenham consider £8m summer bid for Malaga winger Samu Castillejo

Tottenham are reportedly battling Atletico Madrid for Malaga winger Samu Castillejo.

According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a summer bid for Malaga winger Samu Castillejo - but face competition from Atletico Madrid.

Spurs look likely to miss out on a top four place this season, but manager Mauricio Pochettino is expected to make a number of signings this summer to overhaul the Spurs squad.

Adding a winger may be on Pochettino's transfer wish list given that Nacer Chadli, Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela have all struggled to nail down a regular place in the Spurs side this season.

Now, the Daily Mirror suggest that Spurs are interested in signing Malaga winger Castillejo, a Spanish Under-21 international who has burst onto the scene in Spain this season.

The 20-year-old left footer has scored once and racked up four assists for Malaga this season, showing plenty of promise in La Liga.

Pochettino has already snapped up Federico Fazio from Sevilla, and may look to shop in Spain again having previously managed Espanyol.

The Malaga-born wide man may prefer to stay in Spain though, with the Mirror also reporting that Atletico Madrid are interested in a summer deal for Castillejo.

It may be difficult to prise the Malaga youth graduate away from La Rosaleda, but with Malaga's financial troubles, they may be forced to sell their young prospect - and it seems Tottenham may have a big interest in him.
