QPR striker Austin tops list of Premier League's most wasteful forwards

Queens Park Rangers' Charlie Austin has missed more clear-cut-chances than any other Premier League forward this season.

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin has missed more clear-cut chances than any other striker in the Premier League this season.

Austin has been guilty of spurning 15 gilt-edged opportunities this campaign, with is two more than Southampton front man Graziano Pelle, who is next placed in the list.

  TeamBig Chance MissedAppearancesMins Played
Charlie Austin QPR 15 27 2349
Graziano Pellè Southampton 13 30 2569
Sergio Agüero Man City 12 25 1828
Romelu Lukaku Everton 10 30 2399
Mame Biram Diouf Stoke 9 26 1832

It is a surprising stat, considering just how impressive Austin has been this campaign, which has been his first in the top tier.

Austin has netted 15 Premier League goals for the R's this term, which ranks him amongst the top scoring strikers in the division.

It could have been an even higher total had he been more clinical in front of goal, though, and the 25-year-old will be hoping to be more ruthless as the season progresses.

QPR rely on Austin for goals and his form will be vital if Chris Ramsey's men are to avoid the drop.

It should be noted that the reason that Austin features so highly in this list is largely because he is the focal point of QPR's attack, and therefore receives the bulk of their chances, but he will still be wanting to take them more regularly.

At the moment the R's are four points away from safety and they need to start collecting points quickly, meaning they can ill-afford to miss any more presentable opportunities that they create.
