Malaga defensive midfielder Ignacio Camacho is expected be out for the next four weeks as he recovers from surgery.
Camacho has been battling a hip injury since the beginning of 2015 and rather than struggle with pain through the end of the season, both the club's medical staff and the player have decided to correct the problem now, before it has a chance to become a serious issue.
Camacho and Málaga's physician Juan Carlos Pérez Frías travelled to Munich, Germany on Tuesday and was operated on by renowned surgeon Ulrike Muschaweck.
Muschaweck has performed similar surgeries on a number of world football's elite including Xabi Alonso.
While the timing of the surgery can't be helped, Camacho is expected to miss Malaga's most difficult stretch of games against Real Sociedad, Eibar, Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid during his four week recovery period.
Camacho has been one of manager Javi Gracia's most consistent players this season, with his performances earning his first call-up to the Spanish national team for their Euro 2016 Qualifying matches.
