Jamie Carragher has explained on Kicca.com why Liverpool should be considered as the biggest club in England.
The Daily Mail recently produced a list of the 20 biggest clubs in England based on six different categories: crowds, global fanbase, trophies, league finish, player quality and income.
Manchester United came out on top, with Arsenal and Liverpool second and third respectively.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher, though, does not agree with The Daily Mail’s rankings and has explained why the Merseyside outfit should be considered the top club in England.
“These rankings will start arguments up & down the land & the fact you get points for Facebook/Twitter shows how much the game has changed.
“The old way would have just been trophies on the board but this is why clubs would take CL over a cup win for the revenue, prestige & more followers on Twitter!!”
Liverpool have won 18 first division titles, the FA Cup seven times, the League Cup eight times, Champions League (or European Cup) on five occasions, the UEFA Cup thrice and the UEFA Super Cup three times.
United, Liverpool’s fierce rivals, have cliched the league title 20 times, the FA Cup on 11 occasions, the League Cup four times, the Champions League (or European Cup) thrice, the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup once and the UEFA Super Cup on one occasion.
Arsenal have won the first division title on 13 occasions, the FA Cup 11 times, the League Cup twice, the European Cup Winners’ Cup once, and the Inter-Cities’ Fairs Cup on one occasion.
