Is there one QPR player who deserves more praise than he currently receives?
Charlie Austin is odds-on to win QPR’s Player of the Season award, but there is one under appreciated star who should be in the running.
Despite sitting in the relegation places, and very likely to go down to the Championship, the R’s should be very grateful for the goals that Austin has provided, as well as the goalkeeping of Rob Green - who has been exceptional this term.
Playing in the team with the leakiest defence in the entire Premier League, it is a surprise that Green would be considered as one of the R’s players of the season. However, without him, the West London side would be sitting even lower in the league - and would be completely without hope of top flight survival.
Admittedly, he is playing in a team that concede more shots, but he has made more saves than the likes of David De Gea, Thibaut Courtois and Simon Mignolet - considered the best stoppers in the league.

He has had a strong season, and his main weakness - ball control when under pressure - has not been shown on too many occasions. His form has been so impressive that Chelsea have reportedly looked at signing him in the summer to replace Petr Cech, as per the Standard.
Green may be derided for conceding the most goals in the Premier League this season, but he has easily been one of the best players in a floundering QPR side. Goals have been free-flowing thanks to Charlie Austin, but it is the goal-stopping ability of Green that should really be praised.
