Tottenham round-up, Rooney talks up Kane, Walker on remainder of season

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday afternoon.

Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney has said that Harry Kane has got what it takes to succeed at international level.

Rooney is the latest in a long line of figures within football to heap praise on Kane, who is in line to make his international debut against either Lithuania or Italy. The 21-year-old is enjoying an incredible season which has seen him climb to the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts with 19 goals, and has scored 29 in all competitions.

Rooney is quoted in the Daily Mail, saying: "His season has been incredible, it's his first year in the Premier League and to score the goals and his performance have been excellent.

"He fully deserves the call-up. We've seen that he's a goalscorer, if he gets a chance he can finish. It's great for English football.

"He's been on a different route to me and he's having a tremendous season."

Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has been giving an interview to the Tottenham website. The interview covers several subjects including his time on the sidelines and the recent call-ups to the England squad for several members of the Spurs squad.

In terms of their performance on the field, Spurs have been in pretty decent form, but have a job on their hands if they want to get into the top four, as they currently sit six points behind the Champions League places.

Walker said: "We just have to keep doing what we’ve been doing all season and that’s listening to the gaffer’s instructions and taking each game on its merits.

"All we can do is continue our form - barring that game at United - and we should be alright.”
