Stoke City defender Marc Wilson is hoping that his teammate Asmir Begovic will be committing his future to the club in the near future.
There have been several reports surrounding potential contract talks with the Bosnian goalkeeper, who has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Inter Milan recently.
Wilson is quoted in the Stoke Sentinel, saying: "Asmir's a terrific keeper. We came through the same youth team together and I've known him for a long time. He's still got terrific potential, and he's a great bloke.
"Obviously I think the club would love to tie him down as soon as possible. It's crucial, of course, for the club to keep their best players.
"I don't know Asmir's situation, but I know everyone in the dressing room and the management staff would love to keep him at the club for the foreseeable future.
"I can sense that loyalty. He's a very loyal guy and I'm sure for however long he is here at the club he will be 100% focused."
Begovic is evidently highly rated in order for this reported interest from clubs who have ambitions of challenging towards the top end in the league and having a presence in European competition. But he seems to be highly rated by the club as he forms part of a unit that can often be hard to break down for many opponents in the Premier League.
Some of the sides that challenge for Champions League places have consistently struggled against Stoke, a lot of the time at the Britannia Stadium, and that in part is down to the defensive unit.
Begovic seems to be solid in pretty much every department and would be regarded as a safe pair of hands for any club if he was part of their squad.
