Gallery: Unfamiliar looking Scotland win battle against Northern Ireland

Christoph Berra got the goal as stars from Manchester United, Everton, and Celtic all featured.

It wasn't the most eventful game at Hampden Park last night as Scotland played their first match at their home ground for the first time in almost two years.

Both Scotland and Northern Ireland have enjoyed good form on the international stage recently. Scotland are firmly in contention to qualify from their group for Euro 2016, a group which has fierce competition in the form of World Champions Germany - along with strong opponents in Poland and the Republic of Ireland.

Apart from an 85th minute goal from Christophe Berra settled the contest in the favour of a side that dominated for large parts of the game - arguably the most eye-catching aspect of Scotland's display was their choice of strip. They looked more Galatasaray than the side representing the Tartan Army.

There was plenty of Premier League representation on display as well as those from the Football League and the Scottish leagues. The likes of Darren Fletcher, Jonny Evans and Paddy McNair all played, as did Steven Naismith and James Morrison.

The attentions of the two sides now turn to their qualification campaigns. Scotland face minnows Gibraltar and are expected to win well to make it three wins out of their first five games in Group D, while Northern Ireland face Finland at the weekend as they look to strengthen an already healthy position and look to return to the top of Group F.
