A former Liverpool player has been praising his MK Dons teammate and recent Tottenham Hotspur addition Dele Alli.

Former Liverpool player Darren Potter has been speaking about his MK Dons teammate Dele Alli in comments published by MKWeb.

Potter only played 13 senior games for Liverpool before moving on, but after fine spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday he has racked up 177 appearances for the Dons.

The 30-year-old knows recent Tottenham Hotspur signing Alli extremely well having played alongside him for much of the season, and he knows how important the teeenager’s return is following an ankle injury .

“Dele Alli is on the comeback soon and without a doubt he has been a major player that we have missed over the last few weeks since his knock against Colchester,” Potter said.

“When he’s back, he’ll be ready to fit straight back in again and play like he did before his injury.”

Alli has scored 14 goals in 36 appearances this season, and his ongoing fine form saw Tottenham agree to pay £5million for him in the January transfer window.

He may be young but he is supremely talented; something former Liverpool youngster Potter knows very well.

But having failed to make the grade at Anfield earlier in his career, he may also have some advice for Alli before he embarks on the next chapter of his footballing life at Tottenham.
