Depay: This Manchester United legend has been talking to me

Memphis Depay has been in discussions with a Manchester United goalscoring legend.

Speaking to newspaper AD in the Netherlands, Memphis Depay has revealed that he has been talking to Ruud van Nistelrooy to improve his game.

“We look at what can be improved,” the young forward said. “My finishing for example. To sit and talk with Ruud motivates me about football.”

Knowing that Depay is chatting to van Nistelrooy will do much to increase the rumours that the PSV and Netherlands star is set to join the Red Devils in the summer.

The 21-year-old has 23 goals in 34 games for PSV, and the Daily Mail has reported on links between him and United. That same report has him compared to United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, and a transfer to the Premier League looks likely this summer.

United are favourites to sign him, despite interest from Tottenham as well, according to the Mirror. The Red Devils have the advantage of head coach Louis van Gaal, who coached Depay at international level for the Netherlands, and van Nistelrooy could be set to tempt him with Old Trafford as well.

Regardless of any transfer destination, Depay is certainly speaking to a fantastic player to improve his goalscoring. Van Nistelrooy scored an incredible 347 goals in 589 games, including 150 in 219 during his time at Old Trafford. He may not tempt Depay to Manchester, but he will certainly make the young wonderkid a much better forward.
