Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele has told Sky Sports News that reported Spurs target Toby Alderweireld is a 'great player'.
Spurs have enjoyed a promising season under Mauricio Pochettino, but a top four place currently looks unlikely barring a late swing in results.
Pochettino has only had two transfer windows to shape his Spurs team, and is expected to put more of a stamp on the side this summer.
One of the reported transfer targets is Toby Aldereweireld, who is currently on a season-long loan deal at Southampton from Atletico Madrid.
Alderweireld, 26, was signed as a replacement for Dejan Lovren last summer, and has so far been excellent for Ronald Koeman's men - arguably proving to be an improvement on Lovren.
Yet, his impressive displays will attract interest, and the Daily Mail reported earlier this month that Tottenham wanted to bring him to White Hart Lane.
Tottenham have a number of his Belgian international team-mates at the club, including Jan Vertonghen, Nacer Chadli and Mousa Dembele - and the latter has told Sky Sports News that whilst he thinks Alderweireld is a top player, he isn't sure whether he will arrive in North London this summer.
"I think [Toby] is a great player of course, but this is not my [issue] to talk about," said Dembele. "We have good players at Tottenham too so it is difficult to see who fits in our team and who doesn't."
