A round up of news stories this morning related to Chelsea.

Diego Costa has been quoted by the Guardian suggesting that the reason for his team’s exit from the Champions League can be found at Christmas.

The striker feels that the heavy fixture lost over the winter period cost his side and left them less effective for Europe.

The Premier League remains one of the few leagues across Europe, which doesn’t have a winter break.

“Maybe the Christmas exertions have taken their toll. We played three matches in seven days,” he said.

Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado has been quoted by ESPN suggesting the two key figures at the Blues are John Terry and Didier Drogba.

Cuadrado is yet to get anywhere near his best form for the club following a move from Fiorentina in the last transfer window.

However, he’s revealed that the experienced Chelsea duo are doing a good job keeping everyone on their toes.

“Obviously they [Terry and Drogba] have experience and are very important for all of us,” he said.

The Daily Mail has reported that Nathan Ake has joined Championship side Reading on a one month loan deal.

Ake has had some first team game time for the Blues this season, but will now play for Reading over their next few games.

Ake is a versatile player who can cover a range of different positions.
