Nir Bitton has told Celtic's official website that he believes Stefan Johansen has been the Bhoys' best player this season.
Bitton is said to be in with a chance of scooping top prize at Celtic’s annual awards ceremony, but the Israel international feels that Johansen has surpassed everyone else in the squad.
The Norwegian midfielder's dynamism in midfield has been a key feature in Celtic's game and Bitton has paid tribute to the efforts of his teammate.
“Stefan Johansen would be my Player of the Year because he is the kind of player who gives everything for the team,” Bitton said.
“He does every job – he defends, he runs for 90 minutes, he scores goals and he gives a lot of assists. He has had a very good season and he is one of the reasons why we have played very well during the campaign.”
Johansen has made a staggering 51 appearances for Celtic this season, which is testament to his consistency, reliability and quality.
The 24-year-old could have been forgiven for suffering a dip in form, given his gruelling schedule, but he actually appears to have grown stronger as the season has progressed.
Johansen has netted five times in his last 11 games for Ronny Deila's side, taking his total goal tally for the season into double figures.
It is a remarkable record for the attacking midfielder and one that should only get better as Celtic look to complete the domestic treble.
