In a question and answer session with England’s official Twitter account, Ward-Prowse explained how Koeman has been helping him with his free-kicks.
.@SeBlueLion how to be more precise with free kicks! After all he could take a decent one himself!— England (@england) March 24, 2015
The 20-year-old midfielder has already shown impressive set-piece ability in his short career, and as a frequent fixture in England’s Under-21 side, one would hope that he makes the step up to the senior side in the future.
Although playing in a different position to that of Koeman - who was a centre-back - the Dutch veteran has instilled a new sense of technical and tactical strength in the squad, and they look to have a bright future.
Despite being a central defender, Koeman has a brilliant goalscoring record, and is the best ever scoring defender in world football. He was well regarded for his set-pieces - especially long range free-kicks - and it is no surprise to see Ward-Prowse grateful to be under the tutelage of the 78-capped international.
Koeman has brought a new look style to St Mary’s Stadium, and it is likely that many will be aided by his coaching - none more so than the fledgling brilliance of James Ward-Prowse.
