Ghanaian forward Andre Ayew is out of contract this summer, and a report from Calciomercato has claimed that he will meet with Internazionale representatives next week over a potential transfer to Italy.
This has placed increased competition on Ayew’s head, with the Northern Echo reporting last week that Newcastle were looking to sign the 25-year-old, and would be attempting to close the deal before the end of the season.
The Magpies need to add another attacking threat to their ranks in the summer, with goals being at a premium on Tyneside, and Ayew’s impressive tally of seven strikes and five assists in 21 games this term show that he could provide the creative spark that has been so lacking.
Tottenham have also been linked with Ayew, as per Le10 Sport, but their interest has been played down in recent weeks. With Newcastle reportedly looking to wrap a deal up before the end of the season, and Ayew meeting with Inter next week, it appears as if Spurs have decided that their transfer targets lie elsewhere.
Newcastle have long looked towards the French markets for stars, and many of these signings have worked in an impressive style.
Considering Ayew’s reputation, it could be considered quite a coup if the Magpies do manage to secure his signing, and one would hope that Mike Ashley puts the funds forward to steal the winger away from Inter and Serie A.
