Villa are reportedly one of several clubs keeping close tabs on the 20-year-old Legia Warsaw midfielder.
Duda, 20, joined Legia from MFK Kosice his native Slovakia in the winter of 2014 and has since made 46 total appearances for the Polish champions, while recording 11 goals and 11 assists.
His impressive domestic and European performances have attracted attention from a host of major clubs in recent months, with the Standard naming the likes of Arsenal, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan and Inter Milan among the interested parties.
Speaking to Legia Sport last month on his future, the €8 million-rated Slovakian said: “I know in the winter there was much speculation, that there were questions, even offers - but I do not mind this or see it as a great concern.
“I have not seen the offers submitted to the club. For now, I said I’m not going anywhere. I do not want to know anything.”
Nevertheless, considering the mounting speculation surrounding his future, it's growing increasingly apparent that the attack-minded Duda will follow former teammate and now-Arsenal hotshot Krystian Bielik in leaving Legia for a new challenge before long.
Given manager Tim Sherwood’s background on the development side, it’s perhaps no surprise that Villa have been linked to a prospect of his ilk, although it looks like there will be fierce competition for the one-capped international’s signature.
According to transferring.pl’s report, claret and blue scouts were at Legia’s 2-1 defeat to Lech Poznan on the weekend to see him in action, but there were also representatives from Marseille in attendance.
One advantage Villa could have in a potential transfer battle, however, is the fact that Sherwood and Legia manager Henning Berg were teammates at Blackburn Rovers between 1993 and 1997, winning the 1994-95 Premier League title together, and their relationship could just be the crucial ingredient to getting a deal done.
In addition, Duda is not the lone Poland-based prospect who Sherwood's side have been linked to in recent weeks, with PSNFutbol.com also reporting that GKS Belchatow forward Michal Mak is on their radar.
