Ben Osborn was picked to start in his first ever under-20 game for England against Mexico.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder has been outstanding this season for his club, making 31 Championship appearances.

The 20-year-old has three goals and three assists in the division to date, and was selected ahead of Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt in England's starting line-up, who was left on the bench.

Osborn has three previous caps at under-19 level and one for the Three Lions under-18 side.

The midfielder was substituted on 69 minutes with England 1-0 down, with Chelsea's John Swift brought on in his place.

Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom scored an equaliser for England from the penalty spot minutes later, after their goalkeeper had brought him down inside the box. Akpom has been linked with joining Osborn at Forest ahead of tomorrow's loan deadline, as reported by ESPN.

Aidy Boothroyd's side lined up as follows: Walton; Iorfa, Obubajo, Hause, Cargill; Hanson, Baker (C), Osborn; Barmby, Akpom, Robinson.
