Matt Le Tissier and Stan Collymore react to Fraser Forster injury news

Matt Le Tissier and Stan Collymore hope that Southampton and England goalkeeper Fraser Forster recover soon from his injury.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has taken to social networking Twitter to wish Fraser Forster a speedy recovery.

The Southampton goalkeeper will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a knee injury, according to BBC Sport.

Forster suffered the injury during the SaintsPremier League game against Burnley on Saturday, an encounter which Ronald Koeman’s side won 2-0.

The 27-year-old hurt himself while clearing the ball, and it now appears that his injury is long term.

It must be a huge blow to Forster, and former Southampton star Le Tissier hopes that the former Celtic goalkeeper recovers quickly.

Former Liverpool and Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore also took to Twitter to express his disappointment at Forster’s injury.

Forster joined Premier League outfit Southampton from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic in the summer of 2014.

The England international has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the English top flight.

In 30 Premier League appearance so far this campaign, Forster has kept 13 clean sheets, while making two saves per game and 2.86 saves per goal.
