Let’s face it: John Guidetti is nothing like Celtic great Henrik Larsson

A Celtic legend and a current player are seemingly on very different paths regarding the great Scottish club.

Former Celtic striker Henrik Larsson recently went on record to have his say regarding the Bhoys on-loan front-man John Guidetti.

In comments published by The Scotsman, the Swedish legend spoke of Guidetti’s comments about potentially returning to former loan side Feyenoord from his parent-club Manchester City, with plenty of football still to be played at Celtic Park this season.

He then went on to explain that while he announced he would not be signing a new contract during his final season at Celtic, things were not the same as with Guidetti.

“My situation was very different because I had delivered consistently when I was there,” Larsson added.

And there is the crux of the matter, because let’s face it: Guidetti is no Larsson.

The latter is a Celtic legend; a player who scored 242 goals in just 315 games for the Bhoys and always gave his all.

He celebrated every goal with the same glee as a youngster scoring his first and would never have dreamed of netting a blinder only to stroll away as if it did not matter…as Guidetti did against Dundee United last weekend.

It is easy for Larsson to say his fellow Swede should not be talking up a potential move away from Celtic because it was something the former player would never have done in such a way.

But everyone is different, and thankfully for Celtic while it seems they will only have Guidetti for a brief while they enjoyed the brilliance of Larsson for considerably longer.
